Matthew had an appointment next door and we needed a quick dinner.
Now people know that I am not a big Mexican food eater. But this place is turning that around.
24 days of no land animal meat (oink, moo, and cockadoodledoo). So I am pescatarian which if I make it happen gradually will convert to a vegan
Lifestyle. But alas that is future thinking
Queue in Dona Maria. I ordered Caldo De Res for Matt
And shrimp fajitas for me.
The ladies are really sweet. Their salsa and chips
Are consistently fresh and crispy.
Strangely enough Matt ordered horchata. And I drank a Diet Coke.
My fajitas were so good, Matthew ended up consuming the rest of my plate.
Yes and my son is not a seafood fan. So this was quite
Surprising.
I'd order the fajitas and caldo de res
Which is their beef and vegetable soup. -

When I first entered the store, a woman with her child was in front of me. When she payed for her food, she was surprised at the price of her order, the prices on the billboard were not accurate at all. I experienced the same unpleasant surprise when ordering my food. I paid 15$ for my meal of burrito and drink.
Furthermore, the quality of the food served was terrible. Both my items failed to meet standards of any taqueria. The Carnitas I received in my burrito was grey and boiled. Carnitas should have crispy meat on the edges. The meat quality was also atrocious, my carnitas was a chunk of grey fat. I was disgusted and took the meat out of my burrito. After this I could not finish the burrito. It killed my appetite; which is very difficult to do for a person that has ingested marijuana.
Immediately, I tried to wash the taste out of my mouth with the expensive horchata I ordered with it. To my disappointment, the horchata was extremely grainy and had a weird aftertaste.
Bad vibes and bad food did not make for a good experience. I will never visit this establishment again. -

Excellent Mexican spot with great service. If you're dining in, take a seat and they'll bring over a menu for you! While you're deciding, they also provide complimentary salsa and chips -- super delicious, though the salsa is spicier than the typical "mild", so keep that in mind! The staff is super friendly and checks in with you quite often, so you needn't worry as they'll take good care of you.
Lots of menu options from burritos to tacos to fajitas to cocktails, all for a pretty reasonable price. Very easy to order takeout as well. I ordered the beef fajita without beans and the tortilla, and it was plenty for me to split into two meals. The beef could have been a bit more tender and juicy, but it did the job. I saw a lot of people order burritos, so give that a try.
The only drawback here is the parking situation, so you might get lucky inside the plaza, but spots are limited, so try street parking too. Turnover rate is pretty fast, so there should always be an available table, or it'll only be a short wait (they also have a table or two outside). -

Coming back from Monterey we hit traffic as usual on highway 17. It was about 8 o'clock when my wife and I were hit with hunger. Traffic plus hunger is not a good mix. We made it to Dona Maria maybe 20 minutes before closing. Ordered an El Pastor Grande Burrito and the 2x chili relleno platter. The Grande burrito was excellent however next time I'll be sure to add crema. The al pastor is exactly how I like it. No large chunks of pineapple. My wife said the chili rellenos may be the best she's ever had. Not greasy and topped with sauce that surprised her. As far as service goes. We felt they went above and beyond to accommodate us especially when we came right before closing. We will definitely be making this a tradition when driving back from Monterey or Santa Cruz.

Had some tacos for lunch. The food was high quality and very flavorful. The tortillas were amazing.
